Which Wolf do you feed?

According to a Cherokee legend in which “An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life.”

‘A fight is going on inside me,’ he said to the boy.

‘It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil — he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.’ He continued, ‘The other is good — he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you — and inside every other person, too.’

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, ‘Which wolf will win?’

The old Cherokee simply replied, ‘The one you feed.’

How does this apply to you?

As I have told people before, most of the time you have no control over what happens TO you. But you can control how you react to it. You can choose to be sorrowful, sad, angry, etc about something for the rest of your life. Or you can let those emotions run their course and change how you feel about it. You can accept it and then move on and let the happier part of you become the stronger part of you.

It’s not always easy, but you CAN do it.

Find the good in the situation. Find the happy in the situation. Choose to feed THAT wolf instead. Choose to be happy. Fight for it until you ARE happy.
